Case study SEO + Google Ads

Building search demand for a mobile fuel delivery service

FuelSrv delivers fuel directly to fleets, equipment and bulk tanks across British Columbia and Alberta, serving Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. From January 2024 to January 2026 we ran their SEO and Google Ads, aimed at the commercial searches fleet managers actually use: mobile fuel delivery near me, fuel delivery service and fuel services.

The challenge

FuelSrv brings the fuel to the customer: trucks refuel fleets, construction equipment and bulk tanks on site, backed by fleet management software, across Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and the surrounding regions. It is a niche business-to-business category, and it is bought almost entirely through search.

That search demand is narrow but high intent. A fleet manager typing mobile fuel delivery near me is ready to place an order, not read about it. There are not many such searches, and each one is worth a lot, so the job was to own a short list of commercial terms in two provinces rather than chase volume.

At the start of 2024 the site had little search presence. The GA4 chart for the period shows daily active users in the tens. The plan was two channels working together: Google Ads to capture demand immediately, and SEO to build an organic footprint that would keep paying after the ad spend stopped.

What we did

  1. 01

Target the searches that place an order

We built the SEO around the transactional terms, mobile fuel delivery near me, fuel delivery service and fuel services, and their city variants for Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton, with a page for each intent rather than one page trying to cover everything.

  2. 02

Run Google Ads on the same terms, geo-fenced

Search campaigns targeted the same commercial phrases, restricted to British Columbia and Alberta so budget only reached buyers the trucks could actually serve. Ads carried the demand while the organic work compounded.

  3. 03

Build the authority a niche site needs

Steady link acquisition grew the profile to 231 referring domains and 6.6K backlinks, enough for a specialist regional site to rank on its own terms against larger fuel distributors.

  4. 04

Hand over a footprint that keeps growing

The engagement closed in January 2026. The Semrush chart shows organic traffic and the number of top-three keywords still rising through mid-2026, which is the point of doing the organic work alongside the ads.

The results

Over the two-year engagement the site went from a few dozen daily users to a sustained range of roughly 150 to 250 a day through 2025 and 2026, as the GA4 chart shows, reaching 50K users in total. By August 2026, seven months after we stepped away, Semrush recorded 237 ranking keywords, 231 referring domains and organic traffic still climbing.

The figures below are search-visibility and site-traffic numbers read from the client's own GA4 and Semrush, each labelled with its source and date. Google Ads account figures and rank-tracking exports are not part of this write-up, so we have kept it to what we can show.
